The management team of BeneLynk offers our congratulations to the newly confirmed CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure. Ms. Brooks-LaSure has extensive public policy experience including time at the Office of Management and Budget, as a congressional staffer, and in the private sector.
This is a deeply important time for CMS as the nation plans its transition out of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. This transition will require extensive coordination between CMS, the various state Medicaid administrations, and the managed care plans that serve Medicare and Medicaid recipients.
While navigating this challenge, we hope and believe that Ms. Brooks-LaSure will continue the growing focus on addressing Social Determinants of Health as an effective pathway to improving the lives and health of Medicare and Medicaid recipients. Administrator Brooks-LaSure has the opportunity to deepen CMS’s commitment to addressing SDoH by continuing the growth of supplemental benefits offered by MA plans, encouraging Medicaid plans to continue innovative solutions to address SDoH barriers, and by incorporating SDoH realities into plan capitation and quality metrics.
At BeneLynk, we look forward to working with CMS under the guidance of Ms. Brooks-LaSure as we partner to find ways to help Medicare and Medicaid recipients live their healthiest lives.
